Is your conservatory too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter, preventing you from enjoying your investment all year round?

Glass and Polycarbonate conservatory roof systems are great for letting the sunshine in but, the consequence, which can often make using your conservatory unbearable, is an uncomfortable amount of glare and heat in the summer and lets your heat out in the winter.

Conservatory Too HotThe main reason that conservatories are manufactured in such a way is because building regulations and planning permission (each having their own criteria), state that a conservatory must be a minimum of 75% translucent (see through) material; ie: glass / polycarbonate.

A conservatory, by definition of the applicable regulations, can only be called a conservatory if it complies with the 75% rule and has an external grade door between the main house and the conservatory.

On the other hand, a porch has similar requirements, requiring an external grade door in between it and the main house, and can be up to 30 square metres (as with a conservatory) – but does not have to be built with 75% translucent materials. This means it can have a solid roof and, hence, removing the issues of glare, too much light and too much heat build up. In the winter it has its advantages too – a solid roof keeps your heat in – whereas a glass or polycarbonate roof loses heat.

Recently, Thermotec Roofing Systems Limited launched a unique roof system that, by ‘converting’ your conservatory to a ‘Garden Room / Porch’ you can have a solid roof which is 75mm thick – fully insulated to ensure that your conservatory is a pleasure to use all year round.

75mm of High-Density Insulation.

Conservatory Too ColdThe 75mm of high-density insulation is the equivalent of 12 inches of loft insulation, providing a u-value of 0.3 (u-value is a measurement of thermal efficiency).

Not only can this new and innovative roofing system be incorporated into a new conservatory, it can be added to your existing conservatory – any shape, any style.

Replacement roofing qualifies for 5% VAT.

It is also available in virtually any colour both inside and out – or a combination of 2 colours, one colour inside and another colour outside.

This may initially sound like a rather costly way to make your conservatory as enjoyable as you had hoped it would be, however our unique roof system is often cheaper than most of the alternatives – ie: roof blinds, polycarbonate inserts, solar film.

The sun can still get in when you want it.

Because the sun is higher in the summer, the heat gain is directly via the roof – making the conservatory unbearably hot when you least want heat. However, in the winter months, when the sun is lower, you still gain from the sun because the light comes through the sides of the conservatory – ensuring you benefit from natural sunlight and heat when you need it.

No compromise of the style of your conservatory – no compromises to your lifestyle.

  • Eliminate harmful uv-rays.
  • Eliminate glare.
  • Reduces heat gain.
  • Conserves energy in the summer by practically eliminating the need for air-conditioners, fans and other cooling devices.
  • Keeps you cool in the summer.
  • Keeps you warm in the winter.
  • Conserves energy in the winter by allowing you to turn down the heat.

Not only does Themotec’s unique high-density insulated roof system ensure your conservatory is more energy efficient and at a comfortable temperature al year round, it also practically eliminates noise from rain pounding on glass and polycarbonate roof materials and it remains rigid, doesn’t flex in stormy weather.
