What BS EN 1279 - Sealed Units - means to you

Having the best double glazing is not simply a cosmetic improvement in  to your home, it is about safety and security too, and BS EN 1279 (coupled with building regulations) ensures your windows comply - look for the kitemark on your sealed units.

Because BS EN 1279 is part of a European CE Marking scheme (Construction Products Directive), it is illegal for any installer to install replacement or new windows and doors that do not have kitemarked sealed units.

When FENSA came along and said they would eradicate 'cowboys' we thought 'how? can they do that?' but then CE Marking and EN 1279 quickly followed and more people became aware of it - it did make people think before they bought cheap windows.

For many years we've been advising all our customers that if the windows and doors do not include kitemarked sealed units they will struggle to see their home in the future, plus, the installation will not comply with local authority building regulations.
