What BS 7950 uPVC Double Glazing means to you
Not all double glazing is the same - not all locks are the same (no matter what a sales-person may tell you - look for the sign of quality, look for the kitemark.
Installing double glazed windows that incorporate BS 7950 approved locking systems - and that have been tested to the 7950 standard profile, ensures you are getting extremely high security double glazing. But don't be fooled. Any glazing company can show you a kitemarked lock, but if it is not installed in a door that is 7412 and 7950 kitemarked it is no longer a kitemarked lock.
Unfortunately, a lot of double glazing firms fool their customers into thinking they are buying high security windows and doors just by spouting on about 5-point locking and shootbolts etc., when, in fact, the door or window itself is not kitemarked...
